The object of research is the Ukrainian hagiographic and chronicle heritage connected with the Kyiv-Pechersk Monastery, based on the hagiographic material of the XIII century in the Epistle of Saint Simon to Polycarp; and Polycarp to Archimandrite Aquinas. The book also includes the late lives of the authors of Paterik and materials for the lives of St. Nifont of Novgorod, which were included in the later editions of Paterik. The purpose of the work is to unite in one research and systematize different hagiographic material, commenting on texts. Research method - stylistic, factual and statistical analysis of the material and systematization of the obtained results; commenting on texts. Creation on the basis of this scientific research on the history of Kyiv-Pechersk hagiography. A study of the history of chronicles related to life texts. The epistles of St. Simon and Polycarp are the only works that, however, break down into separate plots or short lives of the Cave Saints, who lived in the late XI - XII century. The literary history of these plots is not identical, they are also known as separate texts, which is why we consider them not as a single work, but as the sum of individual texts or sections. In the work on its completion will be given to eight versions of each of them, dating from the XIII-XVII centuries. Scientific analysis is given in the preface and comments to the texts. In addition, for a more detailed analysis of various historical and source problems in the text, there are appendices that contain ancient and modern texts, as well as mini-studies designed to supplement and illustrate the monuments published in the main part of the book.
