The study purpose is an assessment of aquatic biodiversity of the Dnieper River within the northern steppe subzone of Ukraine under conditions of climate change and anthropogenic load. The study methods used are the following: ecological and floristic, hydrobiological, zoological, geobotanical, physiological, and biochemical. Current characteristics of transformation of biological components of aquatic and semi-aquatic ecosystems within the northern steppe subzone of Ukraine under conditions of climate change and the influence of anthropogenic loading were identified. Biological and ecological characteristics of species in phyto- and zoocenoses of aquatic and semi-aquatic areas of the Dnieper River were given, and the fractions of rare and alien species were determined. Current trends in phyto- and zoocomponents adventisation were analyzed, potentially invasive and invasive species were identified. Rare and invasive species were listed. Recommendations for biodiversity conservation in the Dnieper River were developed. The scientific novelty of the research project consists in a comprehensive assessment of biodiversity current state in aquatic and semi-aquatic ecosystems of the Dnieper River in the northern steppe subzone of Ukraine under conditions of climate change and anthropogenic impact. Scientific results of the research project can give a scientific and theoretical grounding for developing strategies, sets of practical measures and implementation of national and regional programs for conservation and restoration of aquatic and environmental ecosystems in the Dnieper River, projects for creation of nature reserves, which can promote optimization of water, agricultural, environmental and forestry industries in Ukraine.
