In linguo-Ukrainian studies, the problems of interaction between the vernacular and the literary standard have been studied in fragments. To date, there is no comprehensive study and qualified assessment of a set of theoretical and practical issues related to the correlation "folk - codified". In view of this, the attention of the author's team was focused on two main research areas: 1) the vernacular as a basis for the formation of grammatical norms of the Ukrainian literary language; 2) national and local in relation to the literary standard. In particular, a set of topical linguistic problems related to various aspects of the interaction of dialects and literary language has been studied and solved: - the ratio of dialects and literary standard; - dynamics of grammatical (syntactic, morphological, word-forming) norms of the Ukrainian literary language against the background of syntactic, morphological and word-forming usages in the Ukrainian vernacular; - the influence of dialects on the culture of language; - formation of features of oral literary speech in the context of phonetics of the vernacular; - correlation of regional phonetic features, regularities of dialectal stress and norms of literary standard; - comparative characteristics of certain groups of folk and literary names; - linguistic features of dialects against the background of the literary standard.
