The purpose of the work is to identify the main trends and features of the Ukrainian language in the socio-political conditions of independent Ukraine, to deepen the validity of the standard of literary language in the new socio-cultural conditions of the Ukrainian language. The research method is descriptive. The work covered many current issues of development and functioning of the Ukrainian language in modern Ukraine. The following issues have been addressed: 1. Local and interlocal in the process of integration of the Ukrainian continuum. 2. Uniform grammatical norms as a factor in the unification of Ukrainian society. 3. Old Ukrainian society in the language. 4. Reflection of the processes of national and cultural identification of Ukrainian society in the vocabulary and phraseology of the Ukrainian language. 5. Ukrainian terminology as a determining factor in professional communication. 6. On the problem of standardization of proper names: theory and practice. 7. Functioning of the Ukrainian language as a state and language situation in different regions of the country. 8. Axiological parameters of modern literary language. 9. Factors of stability of the language system in different styles of practice. The publication of the collective work "Ukrainian language" will be the result of the topic "Ukrainian language - a factor of consolidation of Ukrainian society" within the targeted comprehensive program of the Department of Literature, Language and Art Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. - a factor in the consolidation of Ukrainian society ", publishing a number of articles on the issue. Research materials can be used to prepare new dictionaries, write articles, monographs, teach special courses and seminars on linguistics.
