It was proved that Italian cinema of the twentieth century. became a vivid reflection of socio-political and economic realities. The destructive and innovative beginning of the century in Italian cinema marked the birth of futurism, and the fascist twentieth century marked the spread of the comedy genre and propaganda film. The Second World War and its tragic consequences for Italian society were vividly reflected in neorealist films and later in auteur films focused on existential themes. The economic boom in Italy contributed to the development of comedy, and the radical mood of the 70's was reflected in the cinema in political work. The further evolution of Italian cinema is associated with the widespread spread of North American-style commercial cinema. The results of the study of the peculiarities of Italian culture and history are reflected in the new methodological concept of teaching Italian in higher education establishments.
