Laboratory studies of selected samples of potential pottery raw materials from Olbia and Berezan, samples of ceramic products from various stages of the existence of these sites, as well as experimental samples obtained during the manufacture of replica vessels from selected raw materials have been completed. A micromorphological description of the samples was carried out, corresponding catalogues were created. A granulometric analysis of samples of natural deposits was made in order to determine the degree of their suitability for pottery from a physical and chemical point of view. The obtained data were interpreted and involved into scientific circulation. A map of the relative location of the antique sites of the Lower Bug region, studied sites of raw material selection and potential research areas was made. After comparing the micromorphological structure of the studied samples of raw materials, fragments of antique ceramics and experimental products, a conclusion was made about their affinity. The proposed method of studying the potential pottery raw materials of Olbia and Berezan gave an opportunity to talk about the characteristic features of ancient pottery in the Lower Bug region. Laboratory studies have confirmed that in ancient times, deposits with a significant content of physical clay and a small amount of sand, which are quite suitable for use due to their physical and chemical properties, could be used for the production of moulding mass. The properties of the studied raw material showed that it is quite specific and difficult for the formation of products. But, nevertheless, pottery on local resources certainly ensured the domestic demand of the population for ceramic products.
