The purpose of the work was to obtain new scientific data on the following problems: sources of studying the life trajectories of Jewish refugees who fled from the Nazis to Soviet Ukraine at the beginning of World War II; ethnocultural stereotypes of Jews in the eyes of their Ukrainian neighbors and their influence on the latter’s behavioral strategies on the eve and during the Holocaust; the place of the post-Shoah Jewish intellectual in the transnational cultural landscape of the Cold War era. The following research methods were used: structural and source analysis, oral history methods, historical-genetic, retrospective, biographical, and prosopographical methods, and microhistorical approach. Results: based on the documents from the archives of Ukraine, France, Poland, and the United States, many of which were discovered and studied for the first time, the researchers alalyzed the informational potential of various types of sources related to the fate of Jewish refugees from the Third Reich to Ukraine in 1939–1941; the role of anti-Semitism as one of the important factors that could influence the motivation of the local population to complicity in the murder of Jews, and the image of Jews in the memories of their former Ukrainian neighbors about World War II; the biography, cultural environment, and literary heritage of Piotr Rawicz, a Ukraine-born French writer of Jewish origin during his years in Paris (1947–1982).
