The conceptual principles of the modernization of physical education in the New Ukrainian School are defined: strengthening its epistemological potential; specification of mandatory results and variability of ways to achieve them; improvement of the concentric structure of the school physics course and its development into a spiral-concentric one. The trend of wide use of the subject-integration approach, strengthening of intra-subject, branch and inter-branch integration, optimal combination of means of implementation of individual components, strengthening of the applied orientation of physics teaching and digitalization as a condition for modernization of the educational process in physics in the New Ukrainian School is substantiated. It has been established that the implementation of the spiral-concentric structure laid down in the developed Concept of basic physical education can be considered as a mechanism for compensating the educational losses of students, which is especially important in the conditions of martial law, post-war reconstruction and distance learning. If students during their studies in basic school have certain gaps related to the limitations of the educational process, then under the spiral-concentric model at each concentric, at each turn of the spiral, there is an opportunity not just to repeat the relevant material, but to consider a specific circle of physical phenomena using complicated mathematical apparatus and improved methods of learning about nature.
