I. Mechnikov National University popup.description2  The obtained results indicate that among the actinomycetes isolated from various sources of the Odesa Bay and the Kuyalnytskyi estuary, there are potentially new species with a high level of antagonistic activity that can be producers of new promising antibiotics. Using modern molecular biological and bioinformatics methods, the biological properties of actinomycetes isolated from the Odesa Bay and the Kuyalnytsky Estuary were determined, and their antagonistic activity against a wide range of indicator microorganisms and phytopathogenic fungi was investigated. On the basis of the 16S rRNA metagenome, the biodiversity of the Kuyalnytsky estuary water was studied. The specificity of the composition of the prokaryotic community of this estuary was confirmed (dominance of the Archaea domain and representatives of non-cultivable halophilic bacteria). The methods of chemotaxonomic identification and on the basis of the 16S rRNA gene sequence show that most of the isolated strains belong to Streptomyces, which can be considered marine Black Sea actinomycetes based on the features of the 16S rRNA gene structure. The presence of PKS-I, PKS-II and NRPS genes in strains with pronounced antagonistic activity was studied. Determined strains with a high level of antagonistic activity, which do not have known clusters of genes of secondary metabolites, and some of them were not identified. When the exometabolome of these actinomycetes was studied, a total of 125 metabolites were identified. Some identified metabolites are previously known for bacteria of other phyla, plant fungi or other marine streptomycetes. Product Description popup.authors Ivanytsia Volodymyr O.
