The purpose of the work is to conduct experimental research on the burning of pellets of agricultural origin and to select the most optimal technological modes of burning pellets of various types. Research methods – numerical modeling of heat and mass transfer processes accompanying the burning of pellets, experimental studies, and analysis of the obtained results. During the work, numerical modeling of the heat and mass transfer processes accompanying the burning of agricultural plant pellets was carried out. The stages of pellet drying, thermal decomposition of biofuel with the release of volatile gases, combustion of volatile gases in the air, and combustion of carbon residue are successively considered. The fields of temperature, the velocity of airflow during natural convection, and the concentration of gas medium components were determined. According to the results of the conducted experiments, the features of burning pellets (agro-plant and wood) were analyzed. Recommendations are provided regarding the use of the most optimal modes of burning pellets of various types in bioboilers with a pellet burner. The obtained results are most expedient to apply for the needs of heat supply in the industry, communal sphere, and in individual household sector.
