Research methods: a systematic approach to the study of the process of machining parts on heavy machines, their conditions and features, regularities of processes, provisions of the theory of cutting materials, the theory of designing cutting tools, qualimetry, reliability theories, operations research, decision making, probability theory and mathematical statistics, the theory of regression and correlation analysis, mathematical statistics. Theoretical and practical results: Advanced mechatronic machine-tool systems for machining critical parts based on heavy-duty CNC machines have been developed and investigated. Novelty: theoretical foundations for the creation of mechatronic machine-tool systems to improve the efficiency of machining parts of heavy engineering have been developed. The regularities of work processes for machining heavy engineering parts on mechatronic machine-tool systems have been established. Implementation efficiency: experimental studies and field tests of mechatronic systems and advanced heavily loaded cutting tools for heavy-duty CNC machines were carried out; a methodology for determining the optimal value of the magnetic field strength and pulse frequency depending on the geometric parameters of the tool was created; cutting modes for cutting tools strengthened by a volumetric pulsed magnetic field were optimized according to the criteria of machining performance and operation cost.
