Purpose - to improve the test methods for determining the quality indicators of fire protection materials. Research methods - analytical method of research (analysis of domestic and foreign regulatory framework, guidelines and technical documents, information brochures, manuals, reference books, test reports and other literary sources, information from the Internet), experimental method of research to identify the influence of test specimen parameters on the results of determining the swelling coefficient of reactive fire protection materials, method of numerical modelling of the thermal state of protected steel structures under fire exposure. The paper analyzes regulatory documents and other sources of information on methods for determining and controlling the quality indicators of fire protection products for building structures used in Ukraine and the European Union, the effect of the initial temperature of steel structure samples and the deviation of the furnace temperature from the nominal mode for a period of time until the temperature reaches 500 °C, and determines the procedure for correcting experimental data, as well as the effect of sample weight on the value of the coefficient of swelling of the fire protection product. The study solved an urgent scientific and technical task to develop 3 draft national standards that establish a method for determining the fire protection properties of fire retardants for wood, methods for testing fire retardant coatings and impregnations for wooden and metal structures for resistance to external influences, and methods for monitoring fire retardants (coatings and impregnations) applied to wooden, metal and concrete structures during the operation of fire protection facilities. The results of the research will be used by design organisations, conformity assessment bodies, state market surveillance authorities, and SES units.
