The subject of the study: energy, environmental and fuel efficiency indicators of engines and vehicles when improving engine systems and applying methods of rational use of motor fuels. The purpose of the scientific and research work: analysis of directions for improving fuel economy and environmental indicators of transport engines of various purposes by improving power systems, regulation for operation on traditional and alternative fuels. In the first chapter, based on world trends, the place of hydrogen and hydrogen technologies in the further processes of decarbonization of energy and road transport of Ukraine is substantiated. In the second section, an analysis was carried out, which confirms the perspective of using biogas for powering automobile engines in operation. The third section is devoted to the refinement of the mathematical model of the engine's working process with the aim of further research into the fuel economy and environmental indicators of the operation of a gasoline engine with spark ignition, fuel injection and catalytic neutralization of exhaust gases when using gasoline with a mass additive of ethanol from 0 to 100% in the absence of full adaptation of the engine to use of such fuels. The study of the thermal throttling model is given in the fourth chapter. In the fifth chapter, a theoretical study of the effect of adding nitrous oxide to the air charge of a spark-ignition engine on a possible increase in energy indicators, in particular the indicated mean pressure, is conducted.
