Work objective – to calculate the average group absorbed doses in the thyroid gland of individuals irradiated in utero with iodine radionuclides for all settlements of Ukraine in 1986. Completion of the formation of an electronic archive of direct measurements of the content of radioiodine in the thyroid gland of residents of radioactively contaminated territories based on information from paper media and its final verification. Research methods – empirical-theoretical, mathematical modeling, statistical data processing, computer programming. A reconstruction of thyroid radiation doses for residents of Ukraine exposed by iodine radionuclides in utero and postnatally (after birth) in April–July 1986 as a result of the Chernobyl accident was performed. Thyroid doses were calculated for residents of each of the 30,353 settlements of Ukraine that existed in 1986, and depending on the date of birth of the child. The highest doses were received by individuals born in late April 1986. The thyroid dose of a child born in April–June 1986 is 2–3 times higher than the thyroid dose of its mother; in children born in July–August, the child’s thyroid dose still remains higher than the corresponding dose to the mother, and in children born in September–October, it is at least half the mother’s dose. The highest thyroid doses (on average more than 1 Gy for people born in the first days after the accident) were received by residents of the former Chornobyl and Polissya rayons of Kyiv oblast, Narodychi and Ovruch rayons of Zhytomyr oblast, and Chernihiv and Ripky rayons of Chernihiv oblast. 14,698 records of the results of measurements of radioiodine content in the thyroid of residents of the northern regions of Ukraine have been verified and entered into the electronic database.
