Plant biomass, obtained in course of remediation, is considered as a renewable energy source. Investigate energetic potential of sea buckthorn plants, grown on technologically damaged oil-polluted soils. Biomass studied was collected on the experimental phytoremediation sites and its capabilities as fuel. Moisture content of biomass after collection was equal 40,68%. It enables both natural and artificial conditioning of raw material for further fuel production. Ash content equals 1,40%, heat of combustion – 20,60 MJ/kg. Heavy metal content in 4-year old plants does not exceed permitted values for solid biofuel, therefore biomass of sea buckthorn plants, grown on oil-polluted soils can be used for production of solid fuel (pellets, briquettes), compliant with european standart ENPlus. The influence of the following agents on growth of Panicum virgatum plants and Melilotus officinalis (L.) under oil pollution of the soil (oil content 5%) was studied: sorbent-meliorants: dry grassy leftovers/hay, sunflower husk; mineral fertilizers: (NH2)2CO+K2HPO4; humates. It was shown that sunflower husk is the most promising and affordable agent, accelerating phytoremediation. The phytoremediation composition Vicia faba + Avena satíva (1: 20-50) has been developed, which achieves high 85% degree of cleaning of soil from oil pollution (5%) without addition of fertilizers and other remediation agents.
