ASSESSMENT OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL AND SANITARY STATE OF WATERS BELOW THE DNIPR AND DEVELOPMENT OF METHODS OF RESTORATION OF THEIR PRODUCTION POTENTIAL On the basis of long-term hydrological studies in the lower reaches of the Dnieper, floodplains were typified and three groups were distinguished according to the intensity of external water exchange: with fast, moderate and slow water exchange. It was found that the main factor affecting the state of hydrobiont communities of the lower Dnipro reservoirs is the intensity of external water exchange in the reservoirs. The highest biological productivity and the highest water quality are characteristic of reservoirs with a moderate intensity of external water exchange, in which all water is completely changed to new water within 3-15 days, with optimal values of 5-9 days. Based on the results of the research, practical recommendations have been developed for improving lake ecosystems and improving the conditions of existence of hydrobionts of floodplains below the Dnipro. They provide for the regulation of the hydrological regime, in particular the restoration of daily fluctuations of the water level, as well as the introduction of effective melioration methods that have a local effect and do not require significant financial costs.
