The research subject included sunflower hybrids, seeding rates, biopreparations, seed yield and quality, and soil conditions. The aim of the research in 2025 was to develop a resource-saving, biologically oriented sunflower cultivation technology for rainfed conditions of the Steppe zone of Ukraine, increasing the productivity of new sunflower hybrids and the economic efficiency of their cultivation through biological preparations and reduced seeding rates. Field studies in 2024–2025 revealed extremely arid conditions with abnormally high air temperatures, which negatively affected plant growth and development. It was established that pre-sowing seed treatment with MYKOFREND®-t combined with two foliar applications of Azotofit-r and HELPROST® Bor positively influenced beneficial soil microbiota, suppressed pathogenic fungi, and improved the phytosanitary condition of crops. The studied hybrids showed similar resistance to major diseases; however, the Azart hybrid was distinguished by higher resistance. Optimal growth and productivity were achieved at a seeding rate of 40,000 seeds per hectare. Seed yield under the biologically oriented technology was: Azart – 1.42–1.50 t/ha, Goalkeeper – 1.25–1.37 t/ha, and Khoriv – 1.18–1.25 t/ha. Economic evaluation showed that cultivation of the Azart hybrid was the most feasible, with a net income of 14,000 UAH/ha and profitability of 53.9%. Thus, reduced seeding rates combined with biopreparations increase sunflower productivity in the Southern Steppe of Ukraine.
