The purpose of the study was to scientifically and practically justify the parameters of a model confectionery sunflower hybrid for the stressful conditions of the Left-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine, which include levels of expression of economic, biological and morphological traits and confectionery qualities of seeds, as well as their acceptable stress-induced variations. Field, laboratory, and statistical methods were used. In 2024-2025, the following variants were explored: 60 hybrids at a plant density of 57,100 plants/ha; 40 hybrids at a plant density of 28,600 plants/ha; and 60 hybrids at a plant density of 20,400 plants/ha. The basic characteristics of the model confectionery sunflower hybrid were determined: lengths of interphase periods, plant height, head diameter, seed yield, test weight, achene length, yield of large seed fraction (4.0+/4.5+), capacity for hulling; kernel quality, oil content in achenes, seed number in the head center, uniformity of seeds, resistance to shedding and lodging of plants. Regression analysis with the datum thousand-seed weight of 110 g gave the following mean values for the confectionery hybrid for arid conditions of the eastern Forest-Steppe: seed yield - 2.32 t/ha; length of the "emergence-anthesis" period - 60 days; husk content - 32.7%. Confectionery hybrid ‘IR Akhill’ was submitted for the state qualifying examination in 2026. The following hybrids and lines were included in the State Register of Plant Varieties Suitable for Dissemination in Ukraine: line ‘Kh66B’, a parental component of confectionery hybrids, in 2024; confectionery hybrid ‘IR Chudovyi’ and line- sterility fixer ‘Kh146B’, a parental component of hybrids for dual purposes, in 2025. The results were reported in abstracts of three conferences, scientific and practical guidelines, a state registration certificate, and a patent for plant variety.
