Yuriev of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine popup.description1 Purpose - to enrich the National Bank of Plant Genetic Resources of Ukraine with new sources of valuable economic and biological traits, to increase the efficiency and to ensure long-term preservation of seeds of gene bank accessions in the National Depository and use of the gene pool for development of domestic plant production, breeding, academic and applied sciences, and training programs popup.description2 The NCPGRU added 5,051 new gene pool samples to the National Gene Bank, including 832 samples of 71 crops in 2025. Of these, 1,517 samples were collected in Ukraine (90 in 2025) and 3,534 were obtained from 34 foreign countries (742 in 2025). In order to collect local plant gene pool samples, the NCRRU, together with the Ustymivska Research Station of Plant Production and the Medicinal Plant Research Station, conducted an expedition to Chernivtsi and Ternopil regions, during which 522 plant gene pool samples belonging to 231 botanical species were collected, they are adapted to a wide range of growing conditions. The Plant Gene Pool Information System has been created and is being maintained, with a database of passport data containing information on 113,935 plant gene pool samples. The database has been adjusted in accordance with international standards. In 2025, the passports of 857 samples were entered into the database. Data on 112,900 samples were transferred to the European EURISCO catalogue. This provides access to information about them to users in Ukraine and abroad on the websites: EURISCO: http://eurisco.ipk-gatersleben.de; Genesys: https://www.genesys-pgr.org/. The passport data base containing 113,000 passports of gene pool samples has been transformed for inclusion in to the modern international information system GRIN Global. According to the Statement on the registration of plant gene pool collections, an expert examination has been conducted for a total of 352 gene pool collections of national importance and they have been registered at the NCPGRU. In particular, 41 collections were registered in 2021-2025, among them one base, one genetical, 21 trait, 12 work, four special and two training collections. 11 collections are registered in 2025.
