The object of the study is the system of language education in higher education institutions in the process of training modern specialists. The subject of the study is the peculiarities of forming foreign language communicative competence of future specialists in the context of the competence-based approach, taking into account the requirements of intercultural communication. The aim of the study is to reveal the content and develop a model of foreign language training for future specialists aimed at improving the quality of language education in the context of globalisation. Research methods: theoretical general scientific methods, methods of pedagogical design and empirical methods. Results and their novelty:The content of foreign language training for future specialists in the context of intercultural interaction has been revealed; an integrated training model based on a competence-based approach has been developed. The novelty lies in the substantiation of such a model taking into account intercultural communication. The results have been presented in scientific publications indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, in peer-reviewed academic journals of Ukraine, in monographs and conference proceedings. The characteristics of the research results show that combining a competency-based approach, intercultural components and innovative technologies increases the effectiveness of language education. The significance and practical application of the results lie in the possibility of their use for updating educational programmes and developing professionally oriented foreign language courses. The scope of application covers the training of bachelor’s and master’s degree students.The conclusions substantiate the expediency of further res. aimed at improving prof. oriented foreign lang. training.
