Investigation of bone marrow cell karyotype was performed for 22 patients (14 men and 8 women). It was found that occurrence of chromosomal abnormalities in bone marrow cells of investigated patients with MDS made 22,7 % of cases; among them 3 patients had complex karyotype impairments. Karyotype of 9 patients (40,9 %) showed gene mutations, presented by polyploid chromosomal set. It was also revealed that in MDS patients serum TNF-alpfa level and the levels of soluble receptors TNF-RI and TNF-RII as well as VEGF in blood serum depended on the disease subtype, existence or absence ofsigns of leukemic transformations, as well as administration of cytostatic treatment. During leukemic transformation phase we revealed increase of TNF-RII level with simultaneous decrease of TNF-alpfa level, which was apparently one of the features of apoptosis impairment in persisting leukemic clones. MDS subtypes with high proliferation potential (RARS, CMML) showed high VEGF levels, which could be corrected by the available immunomodulating drugs (interferon drugs, thalidomide).
