Ukraine is becoming a country, which eventually accepts more and more people from different countries of the world. The urgency of the project "Immigrants in Society: Challenges for Education" is determined by life itself - the need to collect current information on the peculiarities of integration in the host society (Ukrainian, Latvian) of migrant groups, to investigate the changes taking place in the mood, attitude and behavior of immigrants. And the main thing: based on the subject of our study, to find out the social order of the investigated migration groups for the education of the host society. And also the social value of education for immigrants, the relevance of the right to education. The problem of education for a group of "motivated migrants" is gaining momentum, as adequate education and education is key to solving the social problems of migrants (say, job creation) and building tolerant relationships in the Ukrainian multi-ethnic society. Latvia is also becoming more attractive to foreign citizens, both from the European Union and from other countries, who wish to stay there on a temporary or permanent basis. The increase in the number of migrants is noticeable in all groups: among foreigners who have family ties in Latvia, study here, work here, make investments or seek refuge. Newcomers are more likely to migrate to families who need to provide opportunities for education, offering existing educational programs or developing new ones addressed to them. This is a great challenge for education. Within the framework of the project, together with colleagues from the University of Latvia, the conference "Offers of education and experience of migrants in society" was held at the Youth Center in Tsesia, seminar "Methodology and organization of empirical research" at the University of Latvia, Riga, expert survey on the project topic, a discussion with Latvian employers, a meeting at the Department of Education, Youth and Sports of the Riga City Duma, took part in ethno-cultural practices in the city of Sigulda. An expert survey was conducted in order to obtain information from the subjects of the educational process, their understanding of the problems of integration of immigrants into the educational space of the host society. Expert opinion allows us to come closer to the analysis of the construction of a strategy for solving the topic under study. As experts, experts from the educational process in Latvia were interviewed: teachers, heads of departments of education of municipal authorities, heads of educational institutions. The opinion of experts is of interest first of all because it belongs to specialists who have a broader and more objective information about immigrants. At the same time, they, each in their field of activity, can influence the adoption of specific decisions on migrants, the formation and implementation of migration policies in a city or country in a certain way. At the second stage, an empirical study was prepared, a questionnaire and a focused group interview were developed, methodological bases were developed for the design of the sample for conducting a basic sample survey of representatives of the original social group - immigrants from Asia and Africa, relevant methodological and instructional materials were developed and principles organization, conduct and quality control of the work on the formation of a sample of immigrant respondents. A sample population of immigrant communities from Asia and Africa has been formed. An expert survey of the Ukrainian side was conducted and expert survey data processed. A theoretical analysis of normative documents in education that promotes the inclusion of migrants in local communities in Ukraine and Latvia shows that the educational legislation of Latvia and Ukraine is open for the provision of various degrees of education to foreigners in both countries, and thanks to the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages, The Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination in the Field of Education - conditions have been created in which foreigners are equal in rights with indigenous citizens of the states, thereby ensuring the proper conditions for acclimatization and the gradual entry into the cultural-linguistic environment and society of the state providing educational services in general.
