Registration Date 04-11-2020 Organization Center for Scientific Research and Teaching of Foreign Languages ​​of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description1 The R&D is devoted to the study of one of the important sections of lexicology, the direction of research of which over the past few decades has formed into a special discipline – neology, included in university curricula. The purpose of R&D: to identify neologisms over the past 10-15 years on the material of Germanic (English, German), Romance (French, Italian, Spanish) languages with a projection into Slavic languages (Ukrainian, Russian); to identify cultural and historical factors influencing the emergence of neologisms in these languages; to formulate theoretical and practical principles of studying neologisms, as well as to analyze their functioning, semantics and pragmatics; to find out the mechanisms of creation of neologisms, to identify the most active ways of their nomination; to study the peculiarities of the interpretation of neologisms in the context; to determine the specifics of the methods of translating neologisms into Ukrainian and partly Russian. The field of research is not limited to general literary language with special emphasis on certain stylistic registers, such as the language of information publications, socio-political texts, certain thematic groups related to different types of discourse, but also includes language for special purposes, which is the language of various scientific disciplines. Another new component of the goal, compared to previous research in the field of neology, is the appeal to the diachronic aspect, namely: conducting a comparative analysis by comparing trends towards the occurrence of neologisms across the different time periods.
