Mono- and polyclonal antibodies against recombinant arginase were developed. The inhibition of cell proliferation and induction of apoptosis in tumor cells in vitro during incubation with preparations of recombinant arginase was shown. It was determined that arginine (L-Arg) starvation in vitro leads to the caspase-dependent apoptosis by mitochondrial type in sensitive to the deficiency of L-Arg cells of human tumors (hepatocellular carcinoma and melanoma). It is shown that the ability of transformed cells to resynthesis L-Arg, production of nitric oxide and polyamines are not defining in the response of these tumors to the lack of L-Arg. Revealed that the processes of recycling of intracellular proteins, autophagy and proteasome degradation play a protective role in conditions of stress caused by starvation for arginine.
