It was shown that the metabolic activity of MA-104 cells (kidney epithelium of green african monkey), was decreased after 1.25(OH)2D3 action in the concentration range of 0.78-50 nmol/L, while the metabolic activity of pig testicular epithelial cells (ST-cells) was inhibited only at the lowest concentration of 1.25(OH)2D3 - 0.78 nmol/L. It was demonstrated that 1.25(OH)2D3 in the range of 25-100 nmol/L increased the percentage of binding of RBD-FITC and RBD-mNeonGreen to ACE2 on the surface of MA-104 cells and did not affect the binding of RBD-FITC-ACE2 complex on ST-cells. Finally, molecular mechanisms that can mediate the protective action of vitamin D3 during coronavirus disease may include: decreased production of reactive oxygen species, lowered expression of the enzyme glyoxylase 1, which is responsible for the utilization of methylglyoxal, inhibition of p38 and NF-κB signaling pathways (on the mRNA and protein levels), as well as an increase in the content of NF-κB inhibitor – IκB.  Product Description popup.authors Krynina Olha I.
