Abstract - The object of the research is the psychological and pedagogical features of the process of forming artistic competence in future specialists of decorative and applied art in the system of art and pedagogical education. The goal is to scientifically substantiate the process of forming the artistic competence of future specialists in decorative and applied arts in the system of higher education at the theoretical and practical levels, namely: in the development of scientific, theoretical and methodological foundations for the formation of a qualitative level of artistic competence of an individual in the process of professional training of future specialists in decorative and applied arts of applied art in classes of art disciplines (art graphics, artistic paper processing, design, tapestry, artistic fabric painting, artistic modeling of clothes, computer graphics, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, production, educational and creative practice). Theoretical and practical results: The obtained results have theoretical and practical value in the field of 02 Culture and art. The main theoretical propositions and research results were used to write articles, monographs, methodological recommendations and theses materials, as well as reports and messages at conferences of various levels. Novelty: Didactic and methodical principles of forming the artistic competence of future specialists in decorative and applied arts in the educational vector "learning - cognition - learning - creativity" taking into account the individual trajectory of the student's educational-cognitive and educational-creative activities; the state of artistic training of decorative and applied art specialists in the system of higher pedagogical educational institutions of Ukraine is characterized; criteria, indicators and levels of formation of artistic competence during training were identified; the concept of artistic competence of a DPM specialist is specified, its content.
