The research is aimed at to determine the features of the nutrients cycle formation within river basins of different types, evaluating the degree of their transformation and impact on aquatic ecosystems to justify the water monitoring network, assess the ecological status and develop measures to improve it.

Methodology for assessing the Pressure in the river basin based on mass balance, Methodology for assessing the stock of substances in the catchment area, Methodology for stochastic assessment of trends in physical and chemical parameters, Methodology for assessing water status classes based on physical and chemical parameters were developed. Sectoral guidelines for ensuring the traceability of results, guidelines for measurement accuracy, and a methodology for calculating the graph linearity assessment indicator were prepared. Recommendations on the use of parametric and non-parametric criteria to ensure the accuracy and correctness of measurements at the monitoring network were provided. The background concentrations of water chemical composition indicators were calculated and type-specific classifications were developed to assess the ecological status by physicochemical and chemical indicators. Based on the developed methods and techniques, an analysis of the anthropogenic load within individual river basins of Ukraine (by physical and chemical indicators) was carried out, and a map of the balance of nutrients by district was developed. The process-oriented SWAT model was calibrated.
