The foreign and national experience of specialized teaching is studied. The didactic foundations of the organization of specialized teaching in the context of reforming general secondary education in Ukraine are laid down. The thesaurus of specialized secondary education is agreed and clarified. The principles of forming the structure and content of the compulsory component of specialized education are scientifically substantiated. These principles are: • focusing the content of the compulsory components of specialized teaching on language and literature, STEM, social and humanitarian clusters; • correspondence of the content of the compulsory component to the strategic functions of specialized secondary education and the operational functions of the cluster/profile of study; • specialized propaedeutics, which is realized through the presence of an adaptation cycle in the first year of study at an academic lyceum (1st semester, grade 10); • consistent and gradual strengthening of the profile in the second and third years of study; • openness and flexible integration of mandatory educational components of specialized education at the basic and advanced levels. The article presents innovative models for the formation of academic profiles: multidisciplinary teaching and teaching in the chosen profile. In any case, an adaptation stage is provided in the first semester of the 10th grade, during which all students, without exception, master the same compulsory educational component and study in-depth issues of three profile clusters: STEM, language and literature, and social sciences and humanities.
