The purpose of the research is to create software and mathematical support for a mock-up of a vision system with the function of locating and tracking a space debris object and measuring the angles of the line of sight. According to the problem statement, the target space debris object is uncooperative, its three-dimensional model is not specified, and it itself can be located both on the Earth's background and on the space background. Research methods are image processing, including threshold and frequency filtering, use of optical flow, image segmentation, clustering. Obtained results: methods for finding a set of image points of a space debris object located in low Earth orbit, when photographed by an onboard optical camera at distances of up to 50 meters in all possible cases of the mutual spatial location of the target, camera and Earth.
