Struggle for saving energy resources and reducing harmful emissions into the air, further improvement of the Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan
popup.description2
This article examines technologies and navigation-based strategies for improving ship energy efficiency and analyzes their effectiveness. The study aims to develop a comprehensive model for assessing vessel energy efficiency during navigation, identify key factors influencing fuel consumption, and formulate practical recommendations for energy-efficient navigation. An innovative approach is proposed that emphasizes optimization through improved navigation methods, an area often underexplored compared to technical solutions. The introduced model accounts for multiple operational factors affecting fuel consumption and is supported by mathematical modeling. The results demonstrate that improved navigation methods can significantly reduce fuel consumption, enhancing both economic performance and environmental sustainability. In particular, a method based on orthogonal decomposition of navigation error distributions is shown to improve vessel positioning accuracy and energy efficiency, outperforming the least squares method. In addition, the combined application of technologies such as hull coatings, waste heat recovery, energy management systems, hybrid propulsion, and wind assistance can further improve ship energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
