LEXICOGRAPHY, SCIENTIFIC AND EDUCATIONAL TERMINOLOGY, TERM FORMATION, ACADEMIC DISCOURSE.
The object of the study is the principal trends in term formation in contemporary science and education, particularly in the humanities, as reflected in the scholarly works of Ukrainian researchers; the approaches and methods used to identify these trends; and the controversial issues in the field of contemporary Ukrainian term formation.
The aim of the study is to analyse the views of contemporary Ukrainian scholars on the principal trends in terminology formation, as well as to identify the most effective, scientifically grounded methods for developing contemporary terminology.
The research methodology combines general scientific methods (observation, description, analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, comparison), specialized philological methods (structural, functional, comparative, discourse analysis), and integrated approaches, including source-based, sociolinguistic, pragmatic analysis.
During the second stage of the research, 36 scholarly articles and monographs were analysed. These publications address the principal trends in contemporary Ukrainian terminology formation, particularly in the humanities, as well as broader theoretical and practical issues related to the field.
The analysis of the selected scholarly works was carried out according to seven key content-related and methodological criteria that characterize the authors’ approaches to identifying the principal trends in contemporary terminology formation in the Ukrainian humanities
