The major purpose of the research is to study the foreign language discourse in a complex systematic way within the framework of modern achievements in pragmalinguistics, cognitive linguistics, ethnic and cultural studies, sociolinguistics, stylistics as well as to synthesize the obtained knowledge with pedagogical theories of forming the foreign language speech competence. The methods of semantic and pragmatic interpretation of discourse, text research, conceptual and speech act modeling, elements of quantity-and-quality analysis are used. The present research generalizes the statements about the system of major notions of pragmadiscoursive analysis. The issue of concept in the discoursive paradigm is studied. The results of studying the regulative function of the gender marked units of the language, language objectivization of the concept GOOD and dialogic discoursive interaction with the participation of the listener in English discourse are reviewed. The conclusions as to the correlation between cognitive and communicative aspect of the content verbalized by language sign are made. The cognitive and semantic peculiarities of German epthonims with a phraseological content are analyzed. The interrelation between the functions of the language and the functions of the translator and the peculiarities of translating Ukrainian negative constructions into English are studied. The results into the research of the components of foreign language teaching are given.
