The aim of the project is to characterize the optical / fluorescent and membrane-active properties of carbon-containing smoke nanoparticles from natural and "anthropogenic" precursors, to investigate their effect on glutamate / GABA neurotransmission in brain nerve terminals, intestinal function and the diversity of microbiota in model systems and clinical trials, to investigate glutamate / GABA signaling in a bidirectional communication system between the gastrointestinal tract and the brain in normal and inflammatory conditions.
