Works which were carried out at a stage 1, have been directed on definition of optimum parametres of samples and technical conditions of conducting of tests for definition of a complex of mechanical characteristics of fuel tubes from alloy Zr1%Nb which are made in Ukraine For definition of characteristics of strength and plasticity at extension, characteristics of resistance to extending of cracks, and also for use of techniques of definition of hardness, acoustical emission and an optical and electronic microscopy for a pilot party materials from zirconium in an initial state and with the reinforced surface samples of various sizes and geometry are chosen and made. Development off of techniques of research of mechanical properties and characteristics of crack resistance of thin samples of alloy Zr1%Nb of the various form and sizes is conducted. The technique of controllable saturation by hydrogen of samples on the basis of zirconium is developed. Preliminary experiments on saturation by hydrogen samples from alloy Zr1%Nb after various high-heat treatments are made. It is installed essential decrease of plasticity and increase in values of a yield stress and microhardness in all samples of an alloy after saturation by hydrogen.
