Aim of research: to identify the prospects of acid-modified aluminosilicates, additionally impregnated with chlorides of transition metals (copper or cobalt), as catalysts for glycerol conversion into compounds that have potential as additives for motor fuels, pharmacy, cosmetics, food industry, etc. Research methods: gas chromatography, spectrophotometry, potentiometry. Literature data about results of glycerol acylation with acetic acid to monoacetin (MA) diacetin (DA) and triacetin (TA) in the presence of heterogeneous acid catalysts are searched, systematized and generalized. On examples of glycerol (Gl) interaction with acetone (Ac) show the viability of nitric acid-modified samples of natural clinoptilolite (H-CPT), bentonite (H-Bnt) and trepel (H-TRP) as catalysts for Gl transformation to cyclic acetals. Factors that determine optimal conditions for acid modification of raw material, providing maximum Gl conversion and catalytic activity of obtained samples, have been identified. In reactions of glycerol (Gl) with acetone (Ac) and acetic acid (AA), catalytic properties of acid-modified bentonite (H-Bnt), clinoptilolite (H-CPT) and trepel (H-TRP), containing additionally introduced (by wetting and impregnation) chlorides of copper (II) and cobalt (II) were compared. It was found that, regardless of "metallization" method, presence of Cu (II) and Co (II) in most of studied samples leads to almost complete deactivation. An exception is sample of H-Bnt in Gl reaction with Ac. In the presence of H-KPT-3_3 (2.5 wt.%; 5 wt.%) and H-TRP-3_3 (5 wt.%) samples, regardless of copper and cobalt content, the dominant reaction product is monoacetin with a selectivity of 58- 67%. In the presence of copper and cobalt ions in H-Bnt-3_3, monoacetin is dominant.   Product Description popup.authors Davtian Araksia S. Levchenko Olga O.
