The existing data and hypotheses concerning the mechanisms of development of structural inhomogeneity and defects, which occur in the joints of dissimilar steels, were analyzed. A quantitative estimate of the distribution of deformations in the heat affected zone of welded joints has been obtained, and a connection between the stress-strain state and redistribution of carbon in the zone of thermal influence has been revealed. Ideas of ​​the influence of alloying welds and base metal, grain size of base metal, thermal welding conditions and heat treatment on the decarburization in the heat affected zone in less alloyed steel. Theoretical information on the laws of formation of the structure of the fusion zone, its influence on technological strength, mechanical properties of combined joints of ferritic steels welded with austenitic weld have been obtained. Generalized recommendations for welding and heat treatment of industry-typical composite welds have been developed. The basic technological processes of obtaining combined steel joints in the boiler-turbine equipment have been created.
