It is proved that the most promising is the multilayer construction of a thick DLC coating with a gradient of its hardness from low to high, which is synthesized from carbon plasma. A number of original results on the establishment of relationships were obtained, which allowed to apply for a patent on thick DLC coatings. In addition, the influence of the time of ion-plasma nitriding of Zr-1Nb alloy tubes on their durability to oxidation in water vapor at 600...1200 oC was studied. It was found that depending on the treatment time, the hardness of the samples along the tube wall thickness increases from 2 to 3 GPa, and on the surface - up to 12 GPa. The nitrided tubes are oxidized much more strongly with cracking and delamination of the oxide layer compared to the initial state. By applying scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive analysis, X-ray diffractometry, nanoindentation, adhesion tests and friction tests to investigate the effect of arc current on the surface morphology, composition, structure and mechanical and tribological properties of AlCrN coatings and investigated the effect of changing nitrogen pressure during deposition on the surface morphology, composition, structure and mechanical properties of VMoN coatings. The results obtained indicate the possibility and perspective of using the developed coatings of the AlCrN and VMoN systems to protect machine parts and reduce the wear of friction pairs.
