This paper searches and analyses information on the types, technical characteristics and principles of operation of alternative energy sources in Ukraine, their fire hazard characteristics; national and foreign building codes regulating the requirements for the design of industrial alternative energy facilities, as well as building codes for non-industrial facilities, in particular, private residential buildings being equipped with solar power plants. A search and study of national and foreign regulatory documents governing the procedure for operational and tactical actions of fire and rescue units during emergency response and firefighting at energy facilities, including those with solar power plants, was carried out. Experimental studies have been conducted to determine the fire hazard indicators of individual structural elements of solar power plants. Draft amendments and additions to the state educational standards for the professions of firefighter-rescuer and commander of the civil protection operational and rescue service and draft Methodological Recommendations on the procedure for fire and rescue units to act in emergency situations and extinguish fires at facilities and structures with alternative energy sources were developed. The implementation of the research results will help to improve the level of training of specialists in the professions of firefighter-rescuer and commander of the division of the operational-rescue service of civil protection during firefighting at facilities and structures with alternative energy sources.
