The object of the study is to assess the competitiveness of the tourism and recreation sphere of the region; goal: substantiation of methodical approaches to assessing the competitiveness of the tourism and recreation sphere of the region, conducting an assessment of the competitiveness of the tourism and recreation sphere of the Carpathian region of Ukraine and developing proposals for ways and mechanisms of its improvement.
The relevance and importance of the study stems from the need for scientific substantiation of the methodology and assessment of the competitiveness of the tourism and recreation sphere of the Carpathian region of Ukraine as one of the drivers of its economic development and the development of proposals for ways and mechanisms of its improvement.
In the process of working on the topic, the theories of competitiveness, sustainable development, regional economy, and institutionalism were used; methods of analysis and synthesis, comparison, abstraction, systematic, economic and statistical analysis, graphic, modeling, etc.
Based on the results of the study, the theoretical positions were deepened, methodological techniques were developed, and the competitiveness of the tourism and recreation sphere of the regions of Ukraine was evaluated, the competitive positions of the Carpathian region were determined, and recommendations for their improvement were developed.
The final product and the main scientific and practical results of the study are the development of methodological approaches and tools for assessing the competitiveness of the tourism and recreation sphere of the Carpathian region of Ukraine and practical recommendations for its improvement.
The results of the NDR are implemented in the practical activities of the state executive and local self-government bodies.
