The donor of the Vrn-B1a gene was the isogenic line Crystal 2-Vrn-B1a. Constant alternative genotypes that were created in previous years based on genetic material (Crystal 2 Vrn-B1a) were studied in comparison with the standards, namely the first regionalized varieties of durum wheat of the alternative type created in Ukraine: Faktor odes’kyi (2020) and Fakir odes’kyi (2022). The best selection numbers in terms of the complex of economically valuable traits and properties were tested for 2-3 years in the main competitive variety test (steppe zone, fallow land, Odesa, Plant Breeding & Genetics Institute). Selection numbers that showed the best test results in 2021-2024 were sown for preliminary propagation. The varieties and selection numbers which were obtained after complex stepwise or triple crosses of wide genetic and ecological material, including winter, facultative and spring varieties and forms of durum wheat show the notably promising results. During the reporting period (2021-25), the following winter durum wheat varieties were included in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine: Marmurovyi, Sriblastyi, and the varieties Akvamarin and Ametist were also submitted to the state variety testing. Also, the alternative variety Fakir odes’kyi has been included in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine, and the varieties Farvater, Fregat, Fermer and Forum have been submitted to state variety testing and are in preliminary propagation.
