The purpose of research is to deepen the theoretical and methodological foundations of the formation of an effective system of financial support for socio-economic development of rural areas in terms of increasing the independence of regions. Research methods. The methodological basis of the study is the dialectical method of cognition. The theoretical and methodological basis of the work is modern economic theory, analysis of the views of domestic and foreign scientists on the peculiarities of the formation of an effective system of financial regulation and stimulation of entrepreneurial activity in the agricultural sector. The abstract-logical method and the method of observation were used to form theoretical propositions and conclusions. Studies on the functioning of the system of financial support for socio-economic development of rural areas have proved its inadequacy. Such conclusions were made on the basis of a study of the effectiveness of financial policy for the development and promotion of entrepreneurial activity in the agricultural sector of the economy; comprehensive analysis of financial support of local governments in rural areas of the region; assessment of the level of investment support for the development of entrepreneurial activity of the agricultural sector of the economy and rural areas of the region. The scientific results obtained in the process of research are a comprehensive assessment of the effectiveness of the system of financial support of socio-economic development of rural areas in terms of increasing the independence of the regions.
