Ancient myths and remittances about air and “space” characters’ flights in days of the Ancient World are analysed in the paper. Numerous narratives Greek authors about the mythical heroes (Phaeton, Perseus, Bellerophon, Icarus, Medea etc.) relevant for their air travels are considered. The author appeals to the classics of Greek literature (Homer, Virgil, Pausanias, Apollodorus, Pindar and others), whose lyrics actually emerged as axiomatic treatment myths that could have a realistic basis. The relevant texts from literature of the Roman era interpreted through the prism of a possible connection with stories about UFOs. Strange natural phenomena and deeds of heroes, exceptional material of antiquity though woven into the mythological system, but demonstrate the possibility of rational interpretation.
