popup.description1
The purpose of the research is to carry out a multi-level analysis of the classification features of modern discourse in the context of the translation paradigm (Slavic, Germanic, Oriental languages) through the determination of linguistic and extralinguistic features of academic discourse within related and non-related languages; the identification of common and distinctive translation means of texts belonging to different genres and styles based on the material of related and non-related languages; the systematization of the obtained data within the language pairs: “related languages”, “non-related languages”, “a related language ↔ a non-related language”.
popup.description2
The subject of this study is the linguistic mechanisms for reproducing the typological and contrastive characteristics of translations of texts of various genres and styles, using the example of related and unrelated languages (Slavic, Germanic, and Eastern).
The subject of the study is a strategic-tactical model for expressing contemporary discursive practices in a comparison of related and unrelated languages.
The aim of the study is a comprehensive analysis of the classificatory characteristics of contemporary discourse through the lens of translation studies by identifying linguistic and extralinguistic factors in the formation of academic discourse across different language groups; to identify common and distinct translation techniques for texts of different genres and styles; and to organize the results by language pairs: “related,” “unrelated,” and “related ↔ unrelated languages.
Research Objectives:
to rethink the understanding of discourse and the criteria for its typology;
to clarify the linguistic and extra-linguistic features of academic discourse in related and unrelated languages;
to improve translation techniques for working with information- and culture-oriented texts;
to examine the means of expressing the linguistic and extra-linguistic components of discourse in contemporary translation studies.
Scientific level and significance—high: the work is aimed at addressing systemic problems in the humanities that are important for the development of new knowledge and modern technologies. The study examines the concepts of “discourse” and “translation toolkit,” approaches to analyzing foreign-language texts, ways to improve translation quality, and the conditions for an adequate rendering of the original into Ukrainian.
results can be applied in training future translators, language teachers, and instructional materials for students majoring in "B11 Philology," "A4 Secondary Education," and "A1 Educational and Pedagogical Sciences.
