Objective: To provide radiation protection of the population of Ukraine from influence of radiation at medical procedures by approbation and introduction in medical departments of individual dosimetry control system of the control of the patients at CT examinations and estimation of the contribution of these examinations in collective dose caused by medical diagnostic exposure of the population. Methods of research - statistical methods,, calculation methods of assessment of individual and collective effective doses, ionising and thermoluminescent methods of dosimetry. Results of research - Patient doses from CT examinations in four regions of Ukraine were determined and analysed. It was established that the number of CT examinations of adult patients is 92.5 % of tot al number of examination. The majority of examinations (62.2 %) were carried out in the people aged over 40. CT examinations were distributed as follows: head - 65%, abdomen - 15 %, chest - 8 %, pelvis - 4 %, other localisations - 8 %. The main contribution to collective dose of the population of these regions from computed tomography is caused by the CT examinations of abdomen (47.5 %). For the first time in the country the measurements of computed tomography dose index were implemented in CT departments.
