The database structure, as well as the software were changed or improved to provide opportunities for more sophisticated analysis of information. The lists of priority species of animals were complied. The species of invertebrates included into the cadastre were devided into three categories according to the proposed priority scheme. The database was significantly extended by adding information on vertebrate and invertebrate species listed in the Red Data Book of Ukraine. The international experience in the field of creation and running of the biodiversity databases was analysed.
