Study aim: to introduce the scientific estimation of thyroid exposure to radiation after the Chernobyl NPP accident integral impact in critical age periods (puberty, fertility, elderly) on health state parameters and life-span in survivors. Study methods: clinical, biochemical, radio-immunological, ultrasonic, and statistical. Study results: menstrual cycle establishing disorders with ovary dimensions decrease and their ultrastructure alterations and echogenicity decrease were found in girls with thyroid pathology exposed in prenatal period or age up to 3 years. Boys were peculiar with gynecomastia and hypothalamic syndrome of puberty period. Gonadal size and echostructure changes were found in 42.2% of adolescents hawing thyroid pathology, that substantiate ultrasonography conduction for early diagnostics of male fertility disorders. No substantial rise in gynecological pathology, uteri and ovarian size changes was revealed in females of fertile age, being the ChNPP accident liquidators. In males and females over 45 (98% and 86% respectively) the symptoms of age-related hypogonadism were observed. The revealed alterations were mostly defined by thyroid function. FSG elevation was found in females over 45 proving the ovarian hypogonadism against the estradiol levels lowering.
