The effects of magnetic traps and plasma resonances were employed for increasing of the RF source brightness.The RF ion sources (helicon and multicusp) with compact magnetic systems of permanent magnets have been designed. This ion sources have been operated with current densities of 10-130 mA/cm2 (plasma densities of 10e11 - 10e12 cm-3) and an RF power input into the plasma of 40 - 300 W. Measurements of the current value and emittance were performed with ion source testing equipment permitting measurements of the ion beam current, emittance, mass composition, and RF power input into the plasma.
