The scope of its legal regulation covers the following issues: checking of conformity of wheeled vehicles, equipment and parts to them with the requirements concerning safety, ecology, energy consumption and introduction into service; harmonization of the normative documents relating technical regulations within the above-mentioned scope with the international obligations of Ukraine under the Agreement done at Geneva on 20 March 1958. The draft Code of special technical regulations was worked out on the grounds of the Law of Ukraine, dated February 10, 2000, No. 1448-III, Decrees of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Nos.143 (dated January 14, 2001) and 288 (dated March 13, 2002). Main provisions of this draft Code are based on the legal provisions of the Agreement done at Geneva on 20 March 1958 and legislation of the European Economic Community, set out in the Directives Nos.70/156/EEC, 91/61/EEC, 74/150/EEC.
