Purpose: Relations between the pineal melatonin-releasing function state and the circadian rhythms of cardiovascular system (CVS); to study a possibility of their reversal by pineal peptide preparations in elderly subjects. Methods: Radioimmune method to determine plasma melatonin concentrations, 24-hour monitoring of arterial BP and heart rhythm variability, bicycle ergometry, and psychomotor performance. Results: In healthy elderly persons with reduced pineal melatonin-releasing function, changes were found in the 24-hour rhythms of autonomic control of CVS, arterial BP, thymic endocrine function and plasma melatonin concentration. In the subjects with pineal functional insufficiency, the peptide preparations epithalamin and epithalon improved the melatonin-releasing function of epiphysis and the thymic endocrine function. The results show that pineal peptide preparations may be used in elderly people. Product Description popup.authors popup.nrat_date 2020-04-02 Close
