Methods of mathematical simulation of thermal fields and inverse heat transfer problems are applied. The results of activities allowed to suggest a new technique of determining the boundary shape and dimensions based on information about the investigated thermal field of the object. It can be used both in identification problems and optimal design. The results obtained can be used in different areas of science and technology for simulation, identification and optimisation of thermal processes and systems.
